Melton Breast Cancer Support Group was set up by Morwen and Janice in October 2006 (Breast Cancer
Awareness Month) to offer support, information and help to local women affected by breast cancer. There were other breast cancer support groups in Leicestershire, including two in Leicester city, but none in the Melton Mowbray area.
Breast cancer brings unique problems as it not only attacks a woman's body but also her sense of her own femininity and can cause low self esteem and depression. It is common to feel that no one really understands the complicated muddle of feelings that accompany the disease and it can be a very lonely experience. Our aim is to demonstrate that there is life after breast cancer and that life can be good even during treatment with the right help and support.
Melton Breast Cancer Support Group meets on the first Monday of each month at Melton Mowbray Baptist Church at 10.00 a.m. When it is a bank holiday we sometimes meet the following Monday but please contact us for more information before visiting us. Leaving Melton Mowbray on the A607 (Leicester Road), turn right at the roundabout with the new Melton Building Society premises facing you. Turn left and left again into the church car park (opposite the English Indoor Bowls Club), where there is free parking. We look forward to seeing you.
Melton Breast Cancer Support Group is most grateful to Melton Mowbray Baptist Church for the kind use of their premises and facilities. Without this help the Support Group would probably not exist. Their address is: Melton Mowbray Baptist Church, Bowling Green, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. LE13 0FA.
